Photo Trouvée Magazine
Issue #16, 2025
Each of these seven collages is comprised of a vintage photo, a piece of modern furniture from a recent (2025) catalog, and words cut & slightly rearranged from their original text, a 1992 book by Mabel Hale: Beautiful Girlhood. Inside colorful rooms I’ve constructed, the past meets the present meets the past, as a way to accentuate the fact that women’s rights are taking a backward turn throughout the world today. Each collage contains language that was part of a narrative girls were exposed to back then. And now, 103 years later, it is a narrative that seems all to similar—or at least not as far-fetched as I once thought it to be. This work speaks to my fear & my frustration. It is a social commentary, a field guide to disbelief.
