About

As both a mixed media artist and a writer, in much of my work I explore the relationship between narrative and image, between the language of metaphor and the possibilities of what can be rendered to communicate it visually.

As much as possible, I use found objects and photographs as well as recycled materials. My ongoing search in used bookstores, antique and thrift shops, and the Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse has become an integral part of my process. The challenge of taking something discarded and giving it new life in my art continues to impact my own awareness of human excess and disregard for the environment. I take seriously my role as an artist to bring attention to this matter and to the ways we, as caretakers of this earth, can repurpose and preserve as we create.
